Before
we found our home in Dillon Beach, we looked up and down the California
coast. Although we have traveled all over the world, Dillon Beach in Northern
California is one of our favorite places! We had a few requirements, however
for our new home. We wanted a home overlooking the ocean. We wanted privacy.
We wanted a place that felt as remote as Maine in the winter (but warmer).
We wanted a place that was steps from the beach, but far from beach crowds.
Amazingly, we found this paradise, just about 45 miles north of San Francisco
and less than an hour from some of the world's greatest vineyards and
restaurants in Napa and Sonoma.
Besides
taking endless walks on unspoiled beaches and looking at great sunsets
and never-ending night skies, we love to take short drives through rolling
hills dotted with farms and scenery that make you feel like you are in
Ireland.
We
have compiled some sites for you to explore, so you too can experience
the wonders of Northern California.
If
you have any questions, please feel free to contact

Our
favorite vineyard is Pezzi
King. The wines are wonderful (a bit pricey, but worth it) and
the vineyard is the most beautiful we've been to. We spent my last
birthday celebrating with close friends at Pezzi King. |

This
is our favorite spa. Indian
Springs in Calistoga. You can enjoy a classic mud bath - immersed
in pure volcanic mud heated from their hot mineral water from their
geysers. massages, facials, etc. Follow your massage with a complimentary
use of their Olympic-size mineral pool, naturally heated from 90°
to 102° depending on season. Calistoga, is worth exploring,
too. |

You
can go hot
air ballooning along the corridors of grape vines and between
the mountains of one of the most magnificent valleys on earth. |

Visit
the meandering Russian River
with some of the finest wineries and most beautiful vineyards that
could be found anywhere. The area's many annual festivals, beaches,
redwood groves, campgrounds, state parks and hiking trails make a
visit to Western Sonoma County a memorable journey. |

Osmosis
is the only day spa in the U.S. that offers the Enzyme Bath, a rejuvenating
heat treatment from Japan. We just went there for an enzyme bath
and it was wonderful. It is just 20 minutes from the house.
While
you are there, visit
Freestone, which has the best bakery - Wildflour. They bake delicious
hand kneaded bread in a wood fired brick oven - and let you sample
every bread - and they are all
delicious.

Petaluma
is our nearest big city - it
has great antiques, outlet shopping and restaurants - one of our favorites
is De'Schmire Restaurant 304 Bodega Ave. 707-762-1901. If you make
a reservation to go, please tell them Lucy from Dillon Beach suggested
the restaurant. |
